GATHERING WITH

Nora Frizzi Auerbach and Ana Dubljevic

“Feminist Thinking in Dramaturgy”

March 19th 19:00-20:30

This gathering invites participants to explore feminist dramaturgy as a practice rooted in awareness, critical reflection, and the capacity to imagine otherwise. We consider how feminist and queer-feminist thinking can influence our ways of making, thinking and collaborating in performance, and ask: why now, for whom, and to what end? By approaching dramaturgy on three interconnected levels: as a question of production, as a way of working, and as an aesthetic practice, we consider how it is situated within, and responds to, the political and relational realities of our time, while also exploring alternatives based on interdependency, care, and responsibility. Through a shared dialogue and practical exercises, participants are encouraged to examine their own dramaturgical approaches and explore how adopting a feminist perspective could influence the choices, relationships, and imagery on stage.

Nora Frizzi Auerbach is a dramaturg, theatre maker, and author whose work explores feminist theory, memory practices, and the relationship between dance and theatre. She sees theatre as a space for reflection and experimentation. She holds an MA in Comparative Dramaturgy and Performance Research from Goethe University Frankfurt and Oslo National Academy of the Arts, and has worked as a researcher and jurist specializing in anti-discrimination policies in cultural institutions.

Ana Dubljevic is an artist based in Belgrade working with dance, choreography and performance. In her choreographic works, which are mainly based on collaborative authorship – “Koreoerotikon”, “Only mine alone”, “Still to come, a feminist pornscape”, “Tender fights 2020”, “Cement Belgrade” to name the recent ones– Ana deals with questions of artistic collaboration and is interested in exploring various ways of creating in non-hierarchical structures.
